Measure.
Understand.
Improve.

Professional performance testing. Objective data. Individual solutions. The Performance Lab is the sports-science, testing and athlete-profiling side of Power For Speed — far more than sprint mechanics — for footballers, basketball players and athletes across every sport, delivered with Leeds Performance Hub.

The Lab

Sports Science,
Actually Applied.

Data on its own changes nothing. The Lab exists to turn measurement into a decision: what this athlete needs next, why, and how we will know whether it worked.

01 Objective measurement

VALD Force Plates, GymAware, sprint testing, jump testing and strength & power testing replace impressions with numbers you can act on.

02 A full athletic profile

Athlete profiling across strength, power, explosiveness, jump performance, acceleration, speed and asymmetries.

03 Interpretation that matters

Numbers are only useful when someone explains them. Every assessment comes with a coach’s interpretation, in plain language.

04 It guides the programme

Findings translate into training priorities — the qualities to develop, and the ones to protect.

05 Monitoring over time

Repeat testing tracks whether training is working, and catches changes worth reacting to early.

06 Multidisciplinary where needed

Within Leeds Performance Hub, Strength & Conditioning and Physiotherapy can work together around the same athlete where appropriate.

Strength & Conditioning · Physiotherapy

The Performance Lab is delivered at Leeds Performance Hub, working alongside Hamza in a collaborative, multidisciplinary performance environment. Power For Speed remains the Strength & Conditioning and performance brand; Leeds Performance Hub provides the professional private facility, with Physiotherapy alongside where an athlete needs it.

Multidisciplinary S&C Physiotherapy Performance testing Return to performance

It means testing data, training and rehabilitation can be discussed around the same athlete rather than in isolation — so an asymmetry picked up on the force plates can be acted on properly, not just noted.

Measure. Understand. Improve.

The Lab’s
Technology.

Measure with professional-grade technology, understand what the data means for you, and improve with training built on it.

Force plates

VALD ForceDecks

Force plate testing, jump performance, reactive strength, force production and asymmetry monitoring.

How it helps athletes
  • Shows exactly how you produce force — not just how high you jump
  • Flags left–right asymmetries before they become a problem
  • Tracks neuromuscular readiness and fatigue across a training block
GymAwarePhoto coming soon
Velocity-based training

GymAware

Strength, power and velocity-based training assessments.

How it helps athletes
  • Measures bar speed and power on every rep
  • Builds your individual load–velocity profile
  • Sets training loads from data, adjusted to how you are performing on the day

Electronic timing

Microgate WittyPro Timing Gates

Professional electronic timing for sprint testing, acceleration, split times and change-of-direction assessments.

How it helps athletes
  • Photocell timing accurate to fractions of a millisecond
  • Split times show where a sprint is won or lost — first steps, acceleration or top speed
  • Objective change-of-direction and agility results you can re-test

Load monitoring

GPS Athlete Monitoring

Monitoring external training demands and supporting individualised physical preparation.

How it helps athletes
  • Quantifies running loads, high-speed distance and sprint efforts
  • Matches gym work to the demands of training and matches
  • Helps manage load to support performance and reduce injury risk

Questions

Before You Book.

Is the Lab only for sprinters?
No. The Lab assesses strength, power, explosiveness, jump performance, asymmetry and change of direction as well as speed. Sprint testing is one part of a much broader picture.
Do I need to be an elite athlete?
No. The same measurements are useful for a developing 14-year-old and for an adult personal-training client who simply wants their training pointed in the right direction.
What is the link with Leeds Performance Hub?
The Lab is delivered at Leeds Performance Hub, where Dion is Lead Performance Coach. It gives a private, professional environment and a collaborative connection, so Strength & Conditioning and Physiotherapy can work together around the same athlete where that is useful.
What should I bring?
Normal training kit, and come rested — several of the tests are maximal and fatigue will change your numbers.
Can my coach or physio attend?
Yes, and it is encouraged. Reports are written to be handed straight to the people who work with you.
